A race in Seaside Park, New Jersey came to an abrupt halt Saturday when a trash can exploded along the route.
An explosive device was detonated in New Jersey on Saturday along the route for a Marine Corps charity run, authorities say.
The explosion occurred in Seaside Park and caused panic and a lockdown of the area, which meant a shutdown of the Semper Five run.

Luckily, the start of the run was delayed, so runners avoided the explosion.
The blast occurred along the Seaside Park boardwalk.
No injuries or property damages were reported.
However, bomb sniffing canines were brought in to search for additional devices and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said "there a report of at least one other device" which the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad "will make safe."

The FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Joint Terrorism Task Force and local law enforcement are investigating, an FBI official told CNN.
"We encourage everyone to stay away from the vicinity and allow law enforcement to render the area safe," the official said.
