Somehow, Todd Orr survived, walking back to his car and driving to the hospital after the attacks.
A Montana man was left severely battered and bloodied after surviving not one, but two attacks by a grizzly bear apparently protecting her cubs from a perceived danger.
Todd Orr, 50, was on an early morning hike near Ennis when he encountered the protective momma bear, which went after the adventurer’s head.
Orr survived the ordeal, covering his extremities and using bear spray to ward off the animal. But while on the way back to his truck, he was attacked by the same bear a few minutes later.
“Life sucks in bear country. I just had a grizzly with two cubs come at me from about 80 yards,” a blood-covered Orr said in a Facebook video he filmed after the attacks.

Orr was alone during the incident.
"I went on my face and protected the back of my neck. She got my head good. I don't know what's under my hat,” Orr said, recounting his injuries. “So, be safe out there. Bear spray doesn't always work but it's better than nothing.”
During the video, Orr shows his mangled arm and shoulder, saying he thinks his arm may be broken.
“Legs are good, internal organs are good, eyes are good,” he said.

David Mizejewski, a naturalist with the National Wildlife Federation, told Inside Edition that Orr did the right thing.
“Lay down, play dead,” he advised.
Orr managed to walk three miles to his car and then drive himself 17 miles to the hospital.
There, doctors stitched his wounds, including a five-inch gash along the side of his head. Orr also suffered a chipped bone in his forearm, shoulder punctures and tears, as well as numerous bruises and scrapes, he said in a Facebook post.
“Not my best day, but I'm alive,” he said.
