Mom of Jim Carrey's Ex-Girlfriend Sues the Actor And Claims He Gave Her Drugs That Led to Her Suicide

Brigid Sweetman says she'll drop the suit if he releases test results that show he doesn't have any STDs.

Jim Carrey is being sued by his girlfriend's mother for allegedly giving his former flame "illegal drugs that ultimately led to her tragic death" and "three sexually transmitted diseases."

The suit, filed by Cathriona White's grieving mother, Brigid Sweetman, also claims that Carrey "shamed" his girlfriend before she took her life.

In early 2013, "Carrey hid from Ms. White that he had tested positive for multiple STDs, according to the lawsuit. At the time of his testing he allegedly gave the fake name "Jose Lopez... in order to avoid detection,” the suit alleges.

The suit also claims that after White tested positive for STDs, she confronted Carrey and he immediately "dumped" her. She took her life one week later.

The suit also alleges that Carrey was verbally abusive to White, calling her a “whore” and shaming her.

Sweetman is calling on Carrey to produce the alleged lab results. If those results show he did not test positive for STDs, she says she will apologize and throw out the suit.

White was found dead in an apartment last September. Her death was ruled a suicide.

Carrey looked grief-stricken when he served as a pallbearer at her funeral in Ireland last year.

In a statement, Carrey's attorney reportedly said: "It is understandable that a mother who has lost a daughter will look for someone to blame."

The attorney added, "But in directing her grief and rage at Jim Carrey and joining this … attempt to capitalize on Cathriona's suicide, Mrs. Sweetman is heading down the same dark path as … [her ex-husband] Mark Burton."

The mother's lawsuit comes three weeks after Burton also filed a wrongful death suit against Carrey. His lawyer has called the lawsuit "baseless," "bogus," and a "transparent shakedown."
