That’s when officers shot 55-year-old Charles Albert Lung multiple times.

Lung was transported to the hospital and listed in critical condition, police said.

“Anytime we have individuals like this, they are detrimental to society. We are glad he wasn’t able to make contact with any children because had that happened this could have been a sad outcome,” Jacksonville police Commander Tyree Jones told InsideEdition.com

Police said they are not yet sure whether drugs played a factor in the incident.

Police are still investigating, but Jones said it’s possible that Lung will face an aggravated assault charge.

The unidentified officer who fired the shot will be placed on administrative leave with pay during the course of the investigation.
