Cold Hearted: Ice Cream Store Worker Claims She Was Fat-Shamed by Customer on Yelp

The crass customer insulted Justine Elwood in person, and then again on Yelp.

A teenage employee at a Utah Cold Stone Creamery says she was fat-shamed by a customer.

Justine Elwood, 19, was working behind the counter at the popular ice cream chain when a customer said something that left her stunned.

“Her kids were sampling a lot of the flavors we have and she kinda pulled them aside and was like, 'with all those samples you're having you're gonna end up as big as her,' and then she kinda pointed to me," Elwood claims.

The fat-shamer didn't stop there. She actually went on Yelp the next day and wrote an obnoxious review which said: “One of their female employees Jessie? Jennifer? J something, is disgustingly obese, and although she is very polite, instantly makes my appetite disappear. I don't like my children thinking they will look that way by eating too much ice cream.”

The upset teenager told Inside Edition: “I'm human, it does hurt to hear that kind of stuff about yourself.”

Justine's mom, Daphne, was so upset that she went on Facebook and asked everyone to track down the mystery woman.

Daphne wrote: "Please if you know of a woman with children that goes by the name Elaine, last name starts with s, please let me know and share so we can stop this bullying!!”

The distraught mother told Inside Edition the situation was painful for her daughter.

“It crushed her,” she said. “She's beautiful and I feel bad that she is being harassed. I thought, 'how can somebody write that to a young girl and expect no consequences?' I was really upset, it turned to anger.”

Justine has been getting lots of support from her customers after the incident, which occurred last week.

“It really was just kind of shocking because you don't expect that from a parent,” the teen said.

The woman who posted the harsh Yelp review has not been found.
