The Australian woman was jogging when a kangaroo sprang out of nowhere, she said.
An Australian woman says she was viciously attacked by a kangaroo while out for an early morning jog.
“He ripped me to pieces,” said 54-year-old Debbie Urquhart, a personal trainer who lives in Melbourne.

“He came and he hit me like a damn truck, and I didn’t know what was going on,” the woman told 3AW Tuesday. “The more I was screaming, the more he was going for me.”
Urquhart said she was running in a park Sunday at about 6:00 a.m., when a 6-foot, 6-inch male kangaroo came out of nowhere and started swinging and kicking.
“He pushed me down with his back feet and then just sort of clawed at me,” she said. “Me protecting myself is how my arm got ripped so badly."
She suffered deep gouges in her arms, back and buttocks that required dozens of stitches. She underwent emergency surgery to repair two torn muscles.
The attack lasted about a minute and ended when she stopped screaming, Urquhart said.

She has no idea what prompted the attack, she said. "I thought I was quite strong, but I’m too small and he just threw me around like a rag doll."
The marsupial made a “horrific” moaning noise while attacking her, she said.
The runner was able to stagger home, where her husband covered her bleeding body in towels and drove her to a nearby hospital.
“She was standing there covered in blood from head to toe – T-shirt and shorts shredded to pieces,” her husband, Rob, told ABC News Australia. “It looked like she’d been through a mincer.”
