Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton wants Donald Trump detractors to lay off Barron — but not his dad.
Clinton took to Twitter Sunday with a message of support for the 10-year-old, who has come under intensified scrutiny in the first days of his father's presidency.

"Barron Trump deserves the chance every child does-to be a kid," Clinton wrote.

However, the daughter of Trump's vanquished rival Hillary Clinton also used the opportunity to criticize the new president.
"Standing up for every kid also means opposing @POTUS policies that hurt kids," the mother-of-two continued.
Clinton's statement came as Barron was the brunt of jokes on social media, including a quip that has won a Saturday Night Live writer widespread scorn.
Barron Trump "will be this country's first homeschool shooter" Katie Rich said in a now-deleted tweet. While calls for her termination have spread across social media, NBC has declined to comment on the matter.
Good Morning America host Robin Roberts also came to Barron's aid, saying "He is a child. Should be off-limits. As all of the president's children — Leave him alone. Leave him alone."
Meanwhile, Clinton may have more than just a sense of duty fulfilled to gain from such a tweet.

She's also not the only former White House resident to speak out recently in support of another.
