Contestants prepared to parade on stage in their bikinis during the preliminary competition Thursday.
"I want to go out and have a good time because this moment is not gonna last forever," Miss USA Deshauna Barber, who is from Washington, D.C., told Inside Edition.
Once they came off the stage, off went the shoes as the contestants let their feet breathe.
One segment of the competition has the ladies dressed in elaborate costumes to show how powerful they are.
Miss Canada Siera Bearchell, a 23-year-old law student, is making headlines after she was ridiculed by online trolls who think she's overweight.
When she posted a picture of herself on Instagram, cyberbullies attacked, calling her "fat” and "overweight."
“What happened to you? Why have you gained weight? You are losing points,” one post read.
She told Inside Edition: "I may not look like what you expect from a beauty queen but that's okay. No matter what your body looks like, it's all about how you feel about yourself."
