Inside Edition was given exclusive access as she checked in to undergo the procedure.
A former contestant on The Bachelor is recovering after receiving a double mastectomy.
Lesley Murphy appeared on the reality show in 2013 and recently faced a life-changing decision that she never expected, and at just 29 years old, she chose to have a preventative double mastectomy.

Since she is cancer-free, the decision comes with some controversy, but she was decided to have the procedure after she was screened for breast cancer and learned that she carried the BRCA2 gene mutation, which means she is predisposed to a breast cancer diagnosis later in life.
Her mother, Martha, also carried the gene. She had breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy.
"I’m probably the only one who knows what she's about to go through," Martha told Inside Edition.
Lesley underwent the procedure at UAMS Medical Center.
“There's no way to know if this would happen to Lesley at age 50 or age 30,” Geneticist Dr. Kent McKelvey of the University of Arkansas Medical Center told Inside Edition. “She decided to take action. That's empowering for her
Murphy's surgeon, Dr. Daniela Ochoa, went over everything with the former reality TV star prior to the surgery, telling her that should could return to her regular yoga class about a month after the procedure.
In addition, reconstructive surgeon Dr. Eric Wright showed her the tissue-expanding implant she would receive.

Seven hours after surgery, she was wheeled out of the O.R. and the one-time Bachelor contestant is confident she made the right choice.
“I have a lot of living to do,” she declared.
