A New York man whose heart stopped after he collapsed at his home is on his way to a full recovery, all thanks to quick thinking neighbors and the Bee Gees song, “Stayin’ Alive.”

Jake Flanagan of Chenago County was working on his home with a friend when suddenly, he collapsed and stopped breathing.
As his friend dialed 911, a mail carrier nearby came over and started administering CPR.
When a neighbor driving by, Jesse Fendryk, noticed the distress, he also jumped in.
"Honestly, the only thing I was thinking about was that one song, 'Stayin' Alive,'" Fendryk told WBNG. “I just kept thumping and thumping and thumping. It was eerie when you’re looking down at the man... ‘Is he going to make it?’ That was probably the hardest part.

Luckily, the pair didn’t give up and once the ambulance came, they were able to get Flanagan breathing on his own. He is now expected to make a full recovery.
“I owe my life to them for knowing how to do CPR, and doing it correctly,” Flanagan said.
