Zac Efron is going from high school heartthrob to high-profile serial killer in a new film where he’ll play Ted Bundy.
Efron is set to star as the American serial killer in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, which will tell Bundy’s story from the perspective of his longtime girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer.

Bundy reportedly admitted to the sexual assault and murder of more than 30 women. He was executed in Florida in 1989.
The film will be directed by Joe Berlinger, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker's credits include the Paradise Lost trilogy and Brother's Keeper.

“I have been trying to work with Zac Efron for a long time,” Nicolas Chartier, one of the producers on the forthcoming film, told Variety. “From his dramatic turn in Paperboy to his hilarious performance in Neighbors, he continues to impress audiences and critics alike with his extraordinary versatility and range. We couldn’t be more excited to see him in this amazing role.”
In recent years, has spent the last few years starring in comedies. Efron’s most recent film, Baywatch, is set to be released later this month.
