Comments were fast and furious over the TV movie, which starred Abigail Breslin as Baby, newcomer Colt Prattes as Johnny, Debra Messing as Marjorie and Nicole Scherzinger as Penny.

“Somebody needs to put this whole movie in the corner,” wrote one social media commenter.

“Did not have the time of my life,” another said.

Another loyal fan grew so impatient with the new film that they turned to the first one.

“After 30 minutes of this remake I had to start watching the original!!"

The 1987 classic starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

The remake sought to capture many of the classic film's beloved moments, but didn’t quite seem to catch on.

Modern Family's Sarah Hyland played Baby's older sister, Lisa.
