Broadnax has been working as a private security guard for the school for three years and said each Wednesday when the children head to chapel, they greet him on their way.

“The kids and their teachers stop to wave every Wednesday.  I try to make sure that I am always available to wave back at them,” Broadnax told InsideEdition.com. “It’s been an incredible experience working in this environment. “

Tawanna Rusk, a faculty member at the school, said all the students love Broadnax.

“He’s a remarkable man," Rusk said. "He has been good to all of our student’s and our family. [They] speak high of him. He looks after all of us like family so it was nice to see him getting that recognition."

On the last day of school, Rusk said the kids wanted to do more than wave at Broadnax, they wanted to give him a proper goodbye.

“The students asked to go see him one last time and thank him before the summer break," Rusk said. "It was this sweet authentic moment that was caught on camera. It is good to see that the kids value and respect him.”

Broadnax said the moment was special for him.

“On this particular day they decided to cross the street — they were just incredible,” he said. “The school itself is great. It’s a Christian environment and these guys are being brought up the right way.”
