The chopper ditched in the Atlantic Ocean, prompting a dramatic rescue.
Special technology has been credited with saving the life of WWE boss Vince McMahon's son after his helicopter plummeted into the Atlantic Ocean Wednesday.

Shane McMahon, 47, was flying to the Hamptons on New York's Long Island when the chopper developed mechanical trouble and made an emergency landing off Gilgo Beach.
The copter was equipped with floats that deploy like air bags to land on water safely. These appeared to come in handy as the helicopter was ditched in the water.
The floats bought some time for rescuers to save both McMahon and the pilot as the helicopter would have sunk otherwise.
McMahon and the pilot spoke at a news conference Thursday to discuss their incident.
“Everything happened so quickly,” McMahon said.

Realizing how close he came to death, McMahon also took to Twitter to express his gratitude to the agencies that came to his rescue following the accident:
“I'd like to thank the man upstairs for looking out this morning & thanks to pilot Mario, Suffolk Co. Marine Bureau & Fire Island Coast Guard."
