Hollywood actor John Heard, who was best known for his roles in Home Alone and Big has died at 72.
Heard’s body was found in a Palo Alto, Calif., hotel room by maid services Friday, People.com reported.

The star had been recovering from a “minor back surgery” at the undisclosed hotel this week, according to multiple reports.
Heard, who was born in Washington, D.C., began acting off-Broadway and went on to appear in nearly 200 TV and roles, including Cutters Way, Cat People and Heaven Help Us.
But he is perhaps best known for his role as Macaulay Culkin’s father, Peter McCallister, in the 1990 classic Home Alone. Heard returned to the role for the 1992 sequel.
He was earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for his guest role as Det. Vin Makazian in the first season of The Sopranos.

The coroner is investigating the cause of his death.
Heard was the father of three children.
