Melissa Bonkoski, 38, had an "inappropriate relationship" with a 16-year-old boy she taught when he was a freshman, police said.
A Pennsylvania woman has been arrested for sexually assaulting a teen who was a student at the high school where she taught, officials said.
In incidents reportedly dating back to late 2015, Melissa Bonkoski, 38, had an “inappropriate relationship” with a 16-year-old boy she met while he was a freshman at Owen J. Roberts High School, according to a criminal complaint.
Bonkoski allegedly began texting the boy about schoolwork while he was in her science class, but the messages eventually became more frequent and more personal, the complaint said.
The teen told police that Bonkoski gave him rides home from his job and while in the car, they would kiss. Bonkoski allegedly allowed the boy to touch her breasts as well, cops said.
The teen also told police that he slept at Bonkoski’s house in the winter of 2015.
He said that while they discussed oral sex and intercourse, they never engaged in it, the complaint said.
The victim said he tried cutting off contact with Bonkoski, but she continued to call and text him and eventually started reaching out by a new number, the complaint said.

“I was kinda hoping you would’ve called me back last night. I really needed to talk,” Bonkoski allegedly wrote on March 3.
On March 23, she allegedly texted: “Whatever you do, please don’t shut me out. Not now. I’m begging you.”
The teen told police he was upset with himself because he believed he had cheated on his girlfriend.
He also said he was worried about stopping Bonkoski from allegedly kissing him because he was afraid he would no longer get rides home.
Bonkoski allegedly admitted to police that she kissed the teen, allowed him to touch her breasts, had him sleep over and discussed oral sex and sexual intercourse.
Police said she also admitted to getting a new phone solely to communicate with the teen, saying she did not believe it could be traced back to her.
“I thought I was being smart,” she told cops, according to the complaint.

She reportedly told investigators that when the teen stopped talking to her, she began to “bombard” the teen with memories of visiting her classroom.
Bonkoski was hit with multiple counts of institutional sexual assault and unlawful contact with a minor, one count of corruption of minors and one count of criminal use of a communication facility — all felonies.
She was arraigned last Friday and posted $80,000 in unsecured bail herself, the Daily Local News reported.
She is due in court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 11, officials said.
Bonkoski did not return InsideEdition.com’s request for comment.
The Owen J. Roberts school district asked for Bonkoski’s resignation immediately after learning last Friday that she had been criminally charged, Acting Superintendent Anthony Costello said in a statement.
“The School District is committed to the safety and well-being of its students, and would strongly urge any community members who are aware of information related to these criminal charges to report it to the School District or the Chester County Detectives’ Office,” Costello said.
