"There's no time to play politics right now. This is a chaos. We're struggling right now," said Daddy Yankee.

On Saturday, the musician, known for hits “Despacito” and “Gasolina,” arrived in Toa Baja to hand deliver boxes filled with rice, pasta, tuna, beans, beef and milk to people who have spent days standing in long lines for food and water.
“You just got to make sure people get the food in their hands,” said Daddy Yankee, whose real name is Ramon Ayala Rodriguez, while passing out crates, in an interview with CNN.
According to the Food Bank of Puerto Rico, Daddy Yankee donated $100,000 to the organization to provide food for about 9,000 families in the impoverished town. Each 59-pound box contained enough food to feed a family of four for about a week.
Daddy Yankee also reportedly sent 200 gallons, or four days’ worth, of diesel fuel to The Food Bank in order to keep them running and sending supplies to citizens.
Eyleen Gonzalez, 18, who was one of the recipients of the celebrity’s generosity, said her home was completely destroyed following Hurricane Maria.
"It's exciting to see and believe that he's helping the people in Puerto Rico, because not everyone has a heart like him," Gonzalez told CNN.
She is one of the many people living without bare necessities on the island.
Toa Baja has no electricity, and only 25 percent of the town’s 80,000 residents have running water, CNN reported. The supermarkets that have been able to reopen are now rationing food.
When asked whether the government is doing enough, Daddy Yankee responded: “No, I don’t think so. I don’t think so. And that’s real. There’s no time to play politics right now. This is a chaos. We’re struggling right now.”
Daddy Yankee has pledged an additional $1 million to Hurricane Maria relief, to be split between Feeding America, the American Red Cross, Habitat For Humanity, and other local organizations, the Associated Press reported.
He has also sent 10 trucks full of supplies that was donated by fans at his concerts.
“Puerto Rico is under a humanitarian crisis,” he said in a video on Instagram. “We’ve run out of food, we’re running out of provisions, running out of gas, running out of medicines. This is a call to the international community to act now. We need your help more than ever.”
Daddy Yankee is just one of the many celebrities using their star power and wealth to provide aid to Puerto Rico.
Jennifer Lopez, born to Puerto Rican parents, announced in a press conference held in New York that she will be donate $1 million in proceeds from her Las Vegas concert to relief efforts.
"My cousin and I and our family still haven't been able to hear from all of our family over there and we are concerned for them and everyone on the island,” she announced in both Spanish and English.
Singer Ricky Martin, actress Salma Hayek and Mexican rock group Maná are also making sizeable donations to the cause.
Hamilton creator Lin Manuel Miranda tweeted a video with "Despacito" co-creator Luis Fonzi of what appears to be the makings of a fundraiser tune for the cause.
