INSIDE EDITION has the story of one young mothers horrifying New Year's Eve when police say two men tried to break into her home while her three-month old son was inside with her.
18-year-old Sarah McKinley was home with her three-month old son on New Year's Eve when two men, one armed with a 12-inch hunting knife broke into her home outside Oklahoma City.
McKinley said tramatically to the 911 operator, "I'm here by myself with my infant baby. Can I please get a dispatcher out here immediately."
McKinley says she recognized one of them as someone she thought was stalking her.
911 Operator: "Are your doors locked?"
McKinley: "Yes, I've got two guns in my hand. Is it ok to shoot him if he comes in this door?"
911 Operator: "I can't tell you that you can do that, but you do what you have to do to protect your baby."
The 24-year-old intruder was shot dead the second he stepped through the door. Police say the other man with him, identified as Dustin Stewart later turned himself in.
McKinley told local reporters, "You have to make a choice, you or him, and I choose my son over him."
It's been a heartbreaking time for McKinley. She was home alone because her husband died of cancer on Christmas Day.
While her son will grow up without his father, the little guy will know his mom will do anything to protect him.
