He may be the most colorful, big city mayor anywhere. Rob Ford is known for pratfalls, coaching a high school football team, not always looking where he's going, and a remark about the media on a radio show, “Bunch of maggots! Maybe I shouldn't have said that.”
But now, the larger-than-life mayor of Toronto is facing allegations he was caught on video smoking crack with drug dealers. Two reporters say they’ve watched the video.
Reporter Cynthia Mulligan of City TV is camped outside the mayor's office.
She told INSIDE EDITION, “They claim they watched the video three times, it's 90 seconds long, in the back of a car. Sounds like it's out of a movie and they say it appears to be our Toronto mayor Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine.
Mayor Ford denies the accusations.
Ford said, “I do not use crack cocaine nor am I an addict of crack cocaine. As for a video I cannot comment on a video that I have never seen or does not exist.”
But just-published reports claim the mayor has privately told aides the video does exist.
Mulligan said, “The mayor specifically knew exactly where the video existed and said don't worry what it was, and directed them it was down to the very apartment building and unit numbers.”
The mayor scandal is grist for the mill of the late night comics.
Jon Stewart joked, "Don't judge him! He was just trying to clean up the city by smoking all the crack. Don't worry prostitution rings, you're next!"
Jimmy Kimmel came up with a spoof version of what the mystery video might look like with the mayor dancing around on crack.
