INSIDE EDITION reports on the risks that vacations could pose when people stray too far from paying attention to their health.
James Gandolfini's death at 51 of a heart attack while on vacation with his young son in Rome is a wake up call. It can happen to anyone.
Dr. Mehmet Oz says the stress of travel can often trigger a heart attack just like Gandolfini had.
Dr. Oz told INSIDE EDITION, "Most importantly, if you're developing symptoms like shortness of breath after you walk just a few flights of stairs, get someone to check you out. It can make a life changing difference."
Travel expert Lia Batkin, of intheknowexperiences.com says it's important to plan ahead.
"What advice do you have for people who want to travel but have a pre-existing condition?" asked Boyd.
"If you're not okay to fly, you shouldn't be flying. There are many wonderful places, driving distances from anyone's home," said Batkin.
INSIDE EDITION's Megan Alexander also got some tips from Dr. Merle Myerson, a cardiologist at St. Luke's Roosevelt hospital in New York.
Alexander asked, "What do people need to remember when going on vacation?"
"Vacation should be relaxing. But with the problems with air travel these days, it can be very stressful," said Dr. Myerson.
Another important thing to remember is don't overeat on vacation. Much has been made of Gandolfini's final meal which reportedly included fried shrimp and foie gras.
Dr. Myerson said, "This can be very important on cruise ships, where there's buffets and unlimited food. It's important not to go overboard."
