The queen found herself literally under siege as hundreds of anarchists gathered outside the palace gates.
Many wore V for Vendetta masks. Among them was actor Russell Brand. The protestors cheered as exploding fireworks flew over the gates and hit the palace.
Fortunately, Prince William, Kate, and baby George were safely at home three miles away at Kensington Palace.
It's the most serious attack on the British Royals since Prince Charles' Rolls Royce was targeted by anarchists in 2010.
But no one ever expected the latest protest.
