The San Diego Zoo brought a new baby gorilla into the world through a rare C-section procedure performed on the mama gorilla. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
A baby gorilla was born by C-Section at the San Diego Zoo.
The baby's mother, 18-year-old Imani, was having difficulty giving birth and vets at the zoo made the decision to operate.
Associate Director of Vet Services Nadine Lamberski said, “We felt that the health of the fetus would have been compromised if we delayed the surgery any further.”

The operating room looks just like a human hospital with all the same equipment and procedures.
The healthy baby weighed five pounds and wore a little blue hat to keep her warm. She sucked her fingers like a human baby. Because the little gorilla's lungs are a little underdeveloped, they vets gave her an oxygen mask, which she chomped on. Her blanket even resembles a hairy gorilla coat to remind her of mom.
