After just two dates, a woman was apparently so obsessed with a man that she tried to break into his home through the chimney and got stuck. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
That's not Santa Claus, it's a lady in love seen in a jaw-dropping video of firefighters pulling a lovestruck woman out of a chimney.
It happened in Thousand Oaks, California. Cops say she was trying to break into the home of a guy she had met online.
She climbed up on the air conditioning unit and then onto a garbage can. Then, she hoisted herself up on the roof and headed right for the chimney.
The fellow who caught her fancy is Lawrence Fernandez. He said he'd been on just a few dates with the woman.
INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret asked Fernandez, "You tried to break off the relationship?"
Fernandez replied, "Yes, I tried to break it off."
"And, did you notice a change in her at that point?" asked Moret.
“Yeah, the change got crazy. That was the change,” said Fernandez.
At 3:00 a.m. she tried to climb down the chimney, but it didn't take long for her to get stuck and you can see why. The chimney is just ten inches in diameter! That's far too narrow for a grown woman to fit inside.
The woman screamed out for help and a neighbor called 911.
"What could you actually see?" inquired Moret.
"If I would look up in the flue I could see the back of somebody's legs," answered Fernandez.
"Was she kicking at all? Was she stuck?" asked Moret.
"No, she was absolutely stuck," replied Fernandez.
The cops found the woman wedged inside the chimney, her arms stretched above her head.
To reach her, firefighters dismantled the chimney brick by brick until her arms were sticking out. They then used dish soap to squeeze her free.
When firefighters grabbed her and hauled her out she looked like a chimney sweep covered in soot!
The woman was hoisted off the roof in a stretcher. She did, however, get all cleaned up for her mug shot! She was charged with illegally entering a home.
Thirty-year-old Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa was charged with illegally entering a home. Let’s hope she's learned her lesson. Next time try the door.
