19-Year-Old Runaway Dog Euthanized Hours After Escaping Home

Ericka Leon and her brother Juan are mourning the loss of their beloved pet who ended up being euthanized just hours after she escaped from their backyard. A stranger found their 19-year-old dog, Leona, was found wandering around a neighborhood in Queens, New York. The dog was brought to a local animal care center. There, Leona was later euthanized. Leona "weak and unable to stand for more than a few minutes before falling," the shelter says.
