An affair between a 19-year-old male model and a 37-year-old teacher, for which the teacher was fired, is living proof that love is blind.  

Joshua Walter is an international modeling sensation with a résumé that include some high-profile Hugo Boss ads. His girlfriend is Gina Salamino, who taught second grade in Queens, New York, before she lost her job.

The relationship between the model and the teacher didn't become romantic until they ran into each other at a party in 2006, when he was 17. That encounter reportedly led to movie dates, hundreds of phone calls and nights at her apartment. The couple now lives in an apartment in Queens, New York, and has a child together.

When INSIDE EDITION's Correspondent Paul Boyd tried to interview the young model, Joshua Walter took a swing at him.

However, in a video posted on YouTube, he's more open.

"I like to watch sports, play sports, know what I mean? Chill with my girlfriend, know what I mean. Hang out with my family, my friends," says Walter.

According to court papers, the teacher was fired by the New York City Department of Education for "conduct unbecoming" her position. Now Gina Salamino is suing the city, calling her firing "ludicrous" because she says Walter was not attending school during their affair and that it was not illegal for her to have a relationship with someone his age.

The papers also reveal that the teacher called the model a mind-boggling 1,497 times during a one-year period.  

Now, the male model who wanted to become famous for his good looks is getting attention for something he never counted on.

In her lawsuit, Ms. Saladino pointed out that when she became involved with Joshua Walter, he rarely even attended school. Due to his modeling career, he was in class only 15 days that school year.
