The New York Yankees Back on Top!

Airdate: 11/5/2009
The New York Yankees swarmed the field, celebrating their 27th World Series win!  They defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in the sixth game of the series, 7 to 3.

There were plenty of big celebrities on hand to watch the Yankees' victory.

Mary J. Blige sang the National Anthem, Donald Trump chatted in a private box with Regis Philbin, and filmmaker Spike Lee bundled up in a Yankees jacket.

Actor Kurt Russell sat side-by-side with Kate Hudson, who was cheering for her boyfriend Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez.

Moments after the win Rodriguez hoisted the World Series trophy and said, "We're going to enjoy it, and we're going to party!" And party they did!

Hudson joined A-Rod and the rest of his teammates for an all-night party at a Manhattan nightspot. And while the players were partying, Yankees manager Joe Girardi was being hailed a hero for what happened after the game was over.

It was just after 2:30 a.m. and Girardi was driving home when all of the sudden he came across a terrible accident on a windy stretch of road on the Cross County Parkway in Westchester County. A female driver had lost control of her car and slammed into a wall. Cops say Girardi got out of his vehicle and was seen jumping up and down trying to flag down a cop car.

The night belonged to the heroes of New York, on the field and off.
