Jackson's Doctor's Office Raided

Airdate: 7/22/2009
There has been a dramatic development into the investigation of the death of Michael Jackson, as federal drug agents raid the Houston office of Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's personal physician

According to Murray's lawyer, they were searching for evidence of manslaughter.

Armed with a search warrant, at least two dozen DEA agents, Los Angeles detectives, and Houston cops raided the office Wednesday morning.

Dr. Murray was with Jackson the day he died, and published reports say the DEA wants to know if he administered the powerful anesthetic drug Propofol.

The question will be, did he administer this anesthesia to Michael that really is not supposed to ever be administered at home or privately," says Roger Friedman, a columnist at Showbiz411.

His lawyer says Murray has done nothing wrong and is cooperating in the investigation and in a statement says: "He should not be a target of criminal charges.  Dr. Murray was the last doctor standing when Michael Jackson died and it seems all the fury is directed at him."

There is also a report that Dr. Murray's other medical office in Las Vegas was also searched in a coordinated raid.

Meanwhile, the world is learning new revelations about Jackson's final days.  He was apparently consumed with jealousy toward his arch rival, the pop star Prince.

"He wanted the show to be bigger than Prince and he mentioned to his choreographer that he was often up late at night because that's when a higher power was channeling creativity to him," says Eric Bates, Executive Editor of Rolling Stone.

The new issue of Rolling Stone magazine says that Jackson was making some bizarre demands before launching the London concerts.

"He wanted at the end of the tour to make an appearance in which he would be recognized for an accomplishment that would appear in the Guinness Book of World Records and it wasn't clear what that accomplishment would be, I don't think Michael knew what it would be," Bates says.

He wanted an English country manor, complete with horses for his three kids, and he was obsessed with eBay and stayed up all night to bid on items.

Jackson's close friend, comedian Dick Gregory, says he was alarmed at how thin the King of Pop was getting and says Jackson told him: "I can't eat.  They're trying to poison me."
