Man Attends Presidential Meeting with 9mm Pistol

Airdate: 8/12/2009

William Kostric is the pistol-packing protestor at the center of a storm of controversy. He carried a loaded 9mm pistol strapped to his leg outside President Obama’s town hall meeting on healthcare Tuesday in New Hampshire.

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews grilled the New Hampshire resident about the gun and the sign he carried.

Matthews: Why did you bring a gun to a meeting with the President of the United States?
Matthews: Was your gun loaded?
Kostric: Well, who would be silly enough to carry an unloaded firearm?

Kostric also carried a sign referencing a quote from founding father Thomas Jefferson.

Matthews: You brought a sign that said, "The tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants", and you're carrying a (expletive deleted) gun at a Presidential event. I think those things make people wonder what you're about.

INSIDE EDITION’s Deborah Norville spoke with Kostric via satellite.

“[The gun] stayed in the holster. It was a peaceful protest. I don’t think it could have gone better,” he said.

Police tell INSIDE EDITION the gun is perfectly legal in New Hampshire since Kostric has a permit, the gun wasn't concealed and he was protesting for a group called "The Free State Movement" on private property.
