"I just didn't want to live at that point," said John Wayne Bobbitt, now 49. "I just wanted to end it."

In entertainment television network REELZ’s docu-series, Scandal Made Me Famous: Lorena Bobbitt, John, of Buffalo, New York, is opening up about the fateful 1993 night that changed his life forever.

Lorena Bobbitt, who claimed in court her husband abused her and flaunted his infidelities, brought a knife into their bedroom one night, and cut off her sleeping husband's penis. She then took off, still carrying the knife and the severed organ.

“I didn’t know she cut it off,” John said. “She did it so fast, and ran so fast … but I looked down, and there’s blood everywhere.”

According to an expert in the show, “His penis was essentially cut off at the bottom. There was a bit left […] but it was pretty close to the bottom of his penis.”

John recalled attempting to put pressure on the wound to stop it from bleeding as he tried to put on pants, and woke his friend who was sound asleep on his couch.

“He gets up and goes to the bathroom and brushes his teeth,” John laughed. “Then he looked in the mirror and saw blood everywhere.”

When he arrived to the emergency room about 10 minutes later, he was shocked again to hear doctors say they would have to sew the wound closed if police couldn’t find the other end of his penis, which Lorena had thrown into a grassy field as she fled the scene.

“What’s the chance of them finding it?” John said. “Where’s the gun? I looked, and thought, ‘Okay, well how do I self terminate right now?’”

Local authorities did eventually find the other end of his penis after a lengthy search, and doctors were able to reattach it in a nine hour surgery.

John denied he had abused her, and Lorena was later acquitted by reason of temporary insanity.

John later went on to star in adult films, including John Wayne Bobbitt Uncut.
