A beautiful young woman faces a life of scars after she is viciously attacked by a stranger who threw acid in her face. INSIDE EDITION has the shocking story.
She's beautiful. Her face is a picture of joy. But she doesn't look like that any more. 28-year-old Bethany Storro looks very different today after a total stranger threw acid into her lovely face. Her face was swathed in bandages after surgery, but she bravely talked about the attack.
"Why me, I've never seen this girl in my entire life. Once it hit me I could actually hear bubbling and sizzling in my skin," said Storro.
It happened as she was about to enter Starbucks on a tree lined suburban street in Vancouver, Washington.
A woman approached her and said, "Hey pretty girl, do you want to drink this?" And then, without another word, threw the acid. Her mother called it an act of evil.
Bethany was wearing sunglasses, bought just an hour earlier, or she would have been blinded.
Amazingly, Storro says she will forgive her attacker, saying, "In time I'm going to forgive her because if I don't, then it's hard to move on with my life."
The incident is a chilling echo of what happened to a beautiful model. A spurned lover paid a thug to throw acid into Katy Piper's face. Now she wears a clear plastic mask to minimize the horrific scars.
And Becky Slabaugh of Akron, Ohio was showered with acid by her estranged husband.
"He tried to destroy my life, but he didn't succeed," said Slabaugh.
Police are still hunting Bethany's attacker, and doctor's say it's too early to say how bad the scarring will be.
