Former James Bond Pierce Brosnan revealed in an interview that he wants the next James Bond to be black or gay.
Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan says he would welcome the idea of a black or gay 007.
Ahead of the next James Bond thriller SPECTRE opening in theaters this November, Details magazine asked Brosnan if he’d like to see a gay Bond after same-sex marriage was legalized in his native Ireland.
He replied: "Sure, why not?"
He then added: "Actually, I don't know how it would work. I don't think [franchise producer] Barbara [Broccoli] would allow a gay Bond to happen in her lifetime. But it would certainly make for interesting viewing."

Rumors have flown around that English thespian Idris Elba could be the first black actor to portray the secret agent.
In the Details interview, Brosnan added: "Let's start with a great black actor being James Bond. Idris Elba certainly has the physicality, the charisma, the presence. But I think Daniel [Craig] will be there for a while yet."
Earlier this year, Elba downplayed the rumors of him playing the famous agent.
The Wire actor said: "Honestly, it’s a rumor that’s really starting to eat itself. If there was ever any chance of me getting Bond, it’s gone," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In 2014, Elba also denounced the phrase “Black Bond” in an interview with ITV.
“We don't say 'White Bond', we just say 'Bond', so it suddenly becomes a black man and he's a 'Black Bond'. So I hate that phrase - and it's a rumor that's gotten out of control, basically - but that's all it is. There's no truth in it whatsoever,” he said.
