'Laugh In' Actress Judy Carne Dies at 76

Actress Judy Carne passed away from pneumonia, she was best known for her role on 'Laugh In.'

Judy Carne, who starred in the classic 60s TV show Laugh In, has died of pneumonia in a British hospital, aged 76.

Alongside Goldie Hawn, Carne got her big break on the series, where she popularized the phrase “sock it to me.”

She was born in Northampton, England, and was a TV star in the UK before moving the U.S. in the late 50s.

Carne was also briefly married to Burt Reynolds and was the actor’s first wife.

In her 1985 memoir, Laughing on the Outside, she admitted to cheating on him and falling into heavy drug use. She says she struggled with addiction to prescription pills and heroin for much of the 70s.

She was also married to producer Robert Bergmann after her split from Reynolds. Both of her marriages ended in divorce and she had no children.

After news of her death, celebrity friends paid tribute to the TV star.
