Chris Sanna was shot in the liver, spine and lungs as he and his girlfriend were robbed at gunpoint after going to a baseball game in St. Louis.
An army veteran may have been permanently paralyzed after he was shot during a robbery as he left his mother's birthday celebration at a baseball game in St. Louis, Missouri.
Chris Sanna and his girlfriend were making their way back to their car after watching the St. Louis Cardinals play at Busch Stadium in downtown St. Louis on Friday night when two men in a black sedan pulled alongside them, according to KMOV.
The driver got out of the sedan and demanded the couple's property, Sanna's mother said in an interview. She said that her son's girlfriend handed over her purse and the man then pulled out a gun and shot at them twice.

Sanna, a six-year army veteran, was shot in the liver, spine and lungs and was rushed to a local hospital in stable condition.
"The surgeons have confirmed that his spinal injury cannot be repaired. His T11 & 12 was completely shattered by the bullet," his mother wrote wrote on a GoFundMe fundraising page.
But the mother of four didn't lose her humor, noting: "The pain meds are making him itch (just like mom). They are giving him medication for that. He is resting."
Sanna had attended the Cardinals game to celebrate his mother's 60th birthday.

"My son lives in Houston and asked me 'Mom, what do you want for your birthday?' I said I wanted to go to a game with all of you, all my boys. And this is what happens," Candis Sanna told KMOV as she fought back tears.
She added on the fundraising page: "This rare, and precious night turned into every mother's worst nightmare."
By Tuesday, supporters had donated more than $60,000 on the fundraising page, which was created to offset medical costs and other expenses.
"Chris served in the Army for 6 years, I watched him grow, become a man, a soldier - and now he will likely never walk again. Chris and my family need your support to help with medical bills and preparation for a challenging future," Candis Sanna explained.
She used the page to share updates of her son's progress, writing: "We have good news. Chris is eating today!!! He was so happy to get orange juice."
"Just met with the trauma surgeon," Candis Sanna wrote. "They won't do surgery since they don't think it will help. However the good news is they also think the spine is in great trauma and they want to wait and see if it recovers itself some(.) It is slight hope.
"He stressed that be we believe in miracles."
The investigation is still ongoing and no arrests had been made as of Tuesday.
