The Girl Who Can't Gain Weight Shares Her Story

INSIDE EDITION reports on the young woman who can't gain weight no matter how much she eats, due to a rare disorder.

She's skeletally thin, a 21-year-old woman who weighs only 60 pounds. But she spends her days eating pizza, french fries, chicken fingers, and ice cream. She even snacks every 15 minutes.

"I eat a lot of junk food," Lizzie Velasquez said.

Velasquez was just 2 pounds, 10 ounces when she was born eight weeks premature.

"My parents had to get cabbage patch doll clothes to fit me," Velasquez said.

Doctors say Velasquez has many symptoms of neonatal progeroid syndrome, a rare genetic disorder characterized by fat loss and premature aging.

She told INSIDE EDITION what one insensitive passerby shouted to her on the street the other day when he shouted "You're so ugly, you need to go home and eat something!"

Worse are the cruel online comments that call her the "ugliest woman in the world."

Explains Velasquez, "I don't like people to see me weak."

But nothing has stopped her from trying to lead a normal life. She's even written a book called "Lizzie Beautiful," and hopes to become a motivational speaker. Her parents say her spunk comes from never being treated differently than her brother and sister.

"I'm going to make myself look better and do my hair and do my make-up. I don't care if you make fun of me. I'm happy to be such a unique person,"  Velasquez said.
