Girl Sneezes 12,000 Times Daily and Can't Stop: 'Kids Make Fun of Me'

Katelyn Thornley tells INSIDE EDITION she is in pain from sneezing so much.

Twelve year-old Katelyn Thornley started sneezing a month ago, and she hasn't been able to stop.

The school girl who lives outside Houston sneezes 12,000 times a day. Sometimes, the seventh grader can't complete a sentence.

“Some kids are making fun of me,” she told INSIDE EDITION.

The only time the sneezing seems to slow down is when she listens to music - specifically The Beatles.

“Even in my dreams, I sneeze,” she said. “I just want it to stop.”

For now, it's a medical mystery. Doctors have ruled out allergies or a virus. Until they figure it out, Thornley can't go to school.

This phenomenon has been seen before. One teenager couldn't stop sneezing - even at her prom some kids laughed at her.

Lauren Johnson had a rare tic condition called PANDAS, which stands for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders. It can cause obsessive compulsive behavior that apparently started with a strep throat infection.

Johnson told IE she had this advice for Thornley: “Keep going, don’t let people get her down.”
