Geraldine Alcorn, 29, and the little girl exchanged more than 2,400 text messages over a two-week period, prosecutors said.
A former Pittsburgh teacher who allegedly sent thousands of texts to an 11-year-old student to convince to run away with her has pleaded no contest, according to reports.
Geraldine Alcorn, 29, entered her plea Wednesday to a misdemeanor charge of corruption of minors, TribLive.com reported. She was sentenced to five years’ probation and has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.
Alcorn was also forbidden from contacting the little girl and she must stay more than 1,000 yards from the child’s home, the paper wrote.

The former elementary school teacher became obsessed with the student and after encrypting her phone number on the girl’s math homework, the two exchanged more than 2,400 text messages over a two-week period in 2014, prosecutors said.
The girl’s mother found the texts on her daughter’s iPhone, she told police. The mother also found notes in her daughter’s binder that said “Things Ms. Alcorn and I can do,” “What we can do” and “When we can do it,” WPXI reported.
Police said they did not believe Alcorn’s attraction to the little girl was sexual, and said the pair discussed Alcorn adopting her.
Pittsburgh Public Schools officials suspended Alcorn in February after learning that a teacher had developed “an improper attachment” to a student, WPXI reported.

Alcorn resigned from her position at Beechwood Elementary School on March 2 and when she cleaned out her things at the school, she left gifts and letters in the child’s desk and locker, police said.
Police said Alcorn also went to the girl’s home and neighbors told WPXI they would see the woman on the front porch, but assumed her to be a relative. She also brought the girl to her own home, police said.
Alcorn was arrested and charged in late March with child luring, corruption of minors and attempted interference with the custody of a minor, TribLive.com wrote. Two of the charges were dropped and the third charge was downgraded from a felony to a misdemeanor.
Her teaching license is still valid, but is set to expire this year, the Associated Press wrote.
