Tony Tarantino remarked on comments the director made at an anti-police brutality rally.
Quentin Tarantino’s father denounced his son’s controversial comments about police, joining the growing backlash against the director.
"I love my son and have great respect for him as an artist but he is dead wrong in calling police officers, particularly in New York City where I grew up, murderers," said Tony Tarantino, who acknowledged he has been long-estranged from his son, in a statement released by the New York Police Union.

There's growing national backlash over the director's comments about the police.
He told reporters during a march in Manhattan on Sunday: “I'm a human being with a conscience and if you believe there's murder going on then you need to rise up and stand up against it. I'm here to say I'm on the side of the murdered."
Police unions in Los Angeles and Philadelphia have joined New York in calling for a boycott of Tarantino's movies.

His comments were viewed as especially inflammatory because they came just days after an NYPD officer was shot and killed while chasing a fleeing suspect. Thousands of cops flooded the streets to mourn officer Randolph Holder before he was returned to his native Guyana to be buried.
Quentin Tarantino did not respond to our request for comment but he has said in the past that he has never met his father and his father was never a part of his life.
