Tim Mraz, boyfriend of slain Cal State Long Beach student Nohemi Gonzalez, spoke alongside the 23-year-old's family on Sunday.
Family and loved ones of a California college student slain in Friday's terror attacks in Paris, including her heartbroken boyfriend, gathered for an emotional vigil on Sunday.
Tim Mraz, who dated Cal State Long Beach student Nohemi Gonzalez for nearly four years, spoke alongside the 23-year-old's family as attendees shared memories of Gonzalez and wept together.
"She was a little firecracker," Mraz said. "She had a Pocahontas tattoo on her left arm. She always said I was her 'John Smith.'"

Gonzalez, an industrial design major, had been studying in Paris for her senior year. Mraz shared a photo of them embracing to Instagram on Saturday along with a message, the LA Times reports.
“Yesterday I lost the most important person in my life," it read. "She was my best friend and she will always be my angel forever. I am lost for words. My prayers are with her family. Such a bright soul and the sweetest girl with a smile on her face.”
On Sunday, Gonzalez's mother, stepfather and fellow study abroad students were also on hand.
Her mother was too overcome with emotion to speak. However, her stepfather, who called Nohemi "Mimi," spoke with Mraz at his side.

"Mimi is not dead. Mimi is right here," her stepfather said as he placed his hand on his heart.
A donation page has been set up by a classmate for a Nohemi Gonzalez Memorial Fund. As of Monday, the fund had raised nearly $3,000 of a goal of $15,000.
The DonationTo.com page reads, in part:
"I cannot even imagine the pain that her family must be experiencing from these devastating events. Beyond our prayers and sympathetic words my family would like to try and help Nohemi's loved ones in this time of unimaginable sadness.
"Please help ease the burden of the funeral costs or help give Nohemi's family a helping start in doing something special in her name by contributing to this fund."
