Among the dead was the band’s merchandise operator, Nick Alexander, who had worked for other artists including Fall Out Boy, The Black Keys and Alice in Chains.

Josh Homme, a member of Eagles of Death Metal who was not on the tour, was unaware of the tragedy that was happening abroad.

Homme, the singer of rock band Queens of the Stone Age, received a text message from Black Keys singer Dan Auerbach, who was in Paris performing with his other band, The Arcs.

Auerbach told Rolling Stone: “I heard there was a bombing at the Eagles of Death Metal concert. I said, "Are you kidding?" I texted Josh Homme and I said, "Are you alright?" He said, "Yeah, I'm in L.A. Why?" I didn't put two and two together that he didn't tour with them. So I said, "Oh thank God, I just heard a horrible story." Then it turned out to be true. It's just awful.”

Fellow California rockers Deftones were also inside Le Bataclan as the shooting unfolded. The band was set to play the venue over the weekend following the concert. They have cancelled the rest of their European tour in the wake of the tragedy.
