A passenger on board a U.S.-bound British Airways flight was restrained after she tried opening an exit door while the plane was flying, officials said.

A passenger on board a U.S.-bound British Airways flight was restrained after she tried to open an exit door while the plane was in the air Tuesday, officials said.

British Airways Flight 213, traveling from Heathrow Airport in London, landed at Logan International Airport in Boston about 1:30 p.m., its intended destination, authorities said.

The Boeing 777, known as a 'Speedbird,' was met by Massachusetts State Police after the airline contacted law enforcement about the unruly passenger, according to a tweet posted by the department.

Troopers were on hand to take the woman, identified by the Associated Press as 32-year-old Polish citizen Kamila Dolniak, into custody.

It was initially reported that the woman tried to storm the cockpit.

"Investigation determines passenger was intoxicated, tried to open EXIT door, not cockpit door. No known nexus to terrorism at this time," State Police said on Twitter.

British Airways said in a statement to INSIDE EDITION: "Our customers and crew deserve to have a safe and enjoyable flight and we do not tolerate abusive behaviour. Our crew have requested that police meet the flight in Boston due to an unruly customer on board."

Police were interviewing the restrained passenger, witnesses and the flight's crew after the plane landed, officials said.

The passenger "will most likely face charges of at least interfering w/flight crew," State Police said on Twitter.

A clerk is expected to set bail. If Dolniak is able to post bail, she will be placed in the custody of U.S. Customs and Border Protection pending her arraignment Wednesday, the AP reported.

If she can't post bail, she will be held at the airport state police barracks overnight and taken to court Wednesday, the AP wrote.
