When the first ever Taco Bell was facing eviction, executives decided the best way to preserve the original restaurant was to move it.
On Thursday at 10:30 p.m., store "Numero Uno" will begin its 45-mile journey from Downey, California to the Taco Bell headquarters in Irvine, California.

So far, the 400-square-foot building has been raised from its foundations and will be loaded onto a truck, Quartz reports.
Thursday night's removal will be captured by a surveillance camera. The video can be viewed here.
Taco Bell's founder Glen Bell opened the store in 1962 and it closed in 1986, according to the OCRegister. It later housed taqueria shops but has been empty since 2014. The building risked demolition after new developments were planned on the lot.
“When we heard about the chance of it being demolished, we had to step in,” Taco Bell CEO Brian Niccol told Los Angeles Magazine. “To think a business like ours started with a walk a walk-up window no bigger than a two-car garage is truly inspirational.”
It was decided that the shop would be rolled through Downey, Norwalk, Cerritos, and through Orange County on its way to Irvine, California.

The building will stay in storage at the company's headquarters until Taco Bell figures out what to do with it. They will ask customers for suggestions.
Downey is also home to the oldest surviving McDonald's in the world. Fast food giants Burger King, In-N-Out, Jack in the Box and Carl’s Junior all have their roots here, Los Angeles Magazine reports.
