A feud between two Florida boxers turned deadly when a champion fighter was fatally shot by a rival who lost a match while the two were out partying, police said.
Darrell Telisme, 24, was arrested on Thanksgiving after he allegedly shot 23-year-old Stan Stanisclasse at his Palm Beach home, according to a probable cause affidavit by police.
Telisme, Stanisclasse and a third man were downtown West Palm Beach on November 25 to celebrate the upcoming holiday when an argument erupted over who was the better fighter, the court paper said.
“I will kick your a**, I am a champion fighter,” Stanisclasse allegedly said to Telisme, and the two men began to fist fight outside a nearby pizzeria, according to the affidavit.
Stanisclasse, a 2012 State Golden Gloves Tournament winner and aspiring Olympian, won the fight “because he had training in mixed martial arts, and wrestling, in addition to traditional boxing,” the affidavit said.
The men continued to party together, heading to the Roof Top Lounge, but the opponents continued to make off-hand comments to each other about who was the better fighter, police said.
After the group went their separate ways, Telisme allegedly went home and showed up at Stanisclasse’s door armed with a Colt .45 automatic pistol, the affidavit said.
A witness told police that Stanisclasse said, “The fight is over, it’s squashed,” but Telisme insisted he open the door.
“Come out, come out,” Telisme repeatedly said, according to a witness.
“Life your shirt, lift your shirt.” Stanisclasse replied as he opened the front door.
A single shot rang out and the 23-year-old champion fell to the ground, having been shot one time in the head, according to the affidavit.
Cops said Telisme fled from the home and contacted a friend, who he allegedly told: “I didn’t mean to do it, I’m sorry.”

He gave the friend his home address and said he would wait there for police.
Investigators found a silver Colt .45 pistol in Telisme’s bedroom, the affidavit said.
Only a week before his death, Stanisclasse had asked a friend if he could borrow their gun and said he was considering getting his own firearm because he was afraid of Telisme, who was known to carry a gun, a witness told police.
The pair, who reportedly met in 2008, had a long-standing rivalry as Stanisclasse “held several championship titles but refused to accept a challenge from Mr. Telisme. And that Mr. Telisme felt he was missing his opportunity to advance in the boxing community,” the affidavit said.
Telisme was charged with first degree murder and carrying a concealed firearm. He is being held without bail at the Palm Beach County Jail.
It was not immediately clear if he entered a plea or if he had an attorney.
