USA Today gives it four stars, its highest rating, and days "That old Star Wars magic is back."
Entertainment Weekly calls the film a "rollicking adventure" and The Hollywood Reporter declares: "The force is back. Big time."
Daily Mail's Brian Viner described The Force Awakens as "a triumph of escapism and the most exhilarating film yet in this mighty franchise.”
But not all the reviews are stellar, The Daily Beast says it's "an uninspired rehash of the previous 'Star Wars' films.”
In a galaxy not so far away, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots were joined by the cast of the film for this a cappella sing along on The Tonight Show.
As it stands, Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time raking in 2.7 billion.
With $100 million in advance ticket sales, it's shaping up to be an intergalactic battle between Star Wars and Avatar.

In 2012, the man behind the franchise, George Lucas, sold the rights to Disney for $4.05 billion.
Lucas received a rousing standing ovation and a hug from longtime friend and fellow film legend Stephen Spielberg during Monday night's premiere.
