Images shared by the Orange County Fire Authority show firefighters placing small, specialized oxygen masks on the reptiles after pulling them out from the building.
Other photographs showed Komodo dragons on the sidewalk. Containers holding reptiles were also stacked up in the street.
Fire officials said the store houses between 700 and 800 animals, the OC Register reported.
Not all the reptiles could be saved however, and some snakes had died, the Orange County Fire Authority said.
The fire was brought under control at 8:43 p.m. The cause is not yet known and an investigation is underway.

Around 150 firefighters responded to the blaze and engines remained on scene overnight to ensure the fire didn't restart, the OCFA said.
The animals will now reportedly be taken to a county animal shelter.
