In the hilarious video, the animals, who are decked out as Christmas elves, are perched on top of their owners, who provide the hands for their hard work.

The animals paint toys, build instruments and stuff stockings - until the clock strikes midnight and the booze and treats come out.

Some of the cats and dogs came from Salt Lake County Animal Services, the largest no kill shelter in Utah. And there was also a celebrity pooch among them: Marnie the Shih Tzu, a rescue dog-turned-Instagram star.

It's the second year that Freshpet, a natural pet food company, has made one of these ads; last year, human hands helped cats and dogs enjoy a Christmas feast.

Katie from Freshpet explained in a behind-the-scenes video: "People loved it so much, we decided to do it again but this time bring a different twist."
