Prosecutors claim the 23-year-old man has been leading a double life since he came to America as a refugee from Iraq in 2012 and settled in Sacramento, California.

On social media, the Palestinian man, who was born in Iraq, allegedly corresponded with terror groups, writing: "I am eager to see blood."

According to a criminal complaint against Al-Jayab, he communicated on social media about his intentions to travel to Syria and join the terrorist organization, al-Nusra Front. He also lied to citizenship officials about his travels to the country and ties to terrorist organizations.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, he was arrested on Friday on a federal charge of making a false statement involving international terrorism.

“Aws Mohammed Al-Jayab allegedly traveled overseas to fight alongside terrorist organizations and lied to U.S. authorities about his activities,” said Assistant Attorney General Carlin in a statement.

“The National Security Division’s highest priority is protecting the nation from terrorism, and we will continue to hold accountable those who seek to join or aid the cause of terrorism, whether at home or abroad.”

Another Palestinian man that was born in Iraq, Omar Faraj Saeed Al Hardan, 24, who was living in Houston, Texas, was indicted Wednesday for providing material support to ISIS.

Like Al-Jayab, he was a refugee that has been living in America. Al Harden became a U.S. citizen in 2011.

According to the Department of Justice: “The indictment alleges that Al Hardan attempted to provide material support and resources, including training, expert advice and assistance, and personnel – specifically himself – to a known foreign terrorist organization.

"According to the allegations, he also knowingly responded, certified and swore untruthfully on his formal application when applying to become a naturalized U.S. citizen.”
