The GOP frontrunner spoke to a New Hampshire radio station about whether there should be an investigation into how the actor got to the druglord.

Trump said: “Well, I guess there should be. But it was sort of amazing the way he got in there and all of the people that are looking for him couldn’t find him and here’s a guy sitting down with a rather long interview," according to Buzzfeed News.

He went on: “So I don’t know, I guess we have bigger problems in this country, but I guess it is a little amazing that he was able to get an interview with a guy that everybody else was looking for, right?”

One of Trump’s rivals, Marco Rubio, is condemning the Rolling Stone interview. He told ABC's This Week he found it "grotesque."

"If one of these American actors who have benefited from the greatness of this country, who have made money from our free enterprise system, want to go fawn all over a criminal and a drug trafficker in their interviews, they have a Constitutional right to do it," he said. "But I find it grotesque."

Penn is reportedly under investigation as to how he managed to interview 'El Chapo' in October. According to reports, his interview may have helped authorities arrest the criminal.
