The 35-year-old artist was found strangled and naked in her apartment in one of the world's most beautiful cities. Her beloved beagle, Scout, was by her side.
Ashley was last seen alive in the Monte Carla nightclub. DailyMail.com is calling it a "sex den" and "a seedy club known for drugs, sex and violence."
The investigation into her murder is being led by the same top cop who handled, and some say bungled, the notorious Amanda Knox case in which Knox was accused and ultimately cleared of murdering her roommate in 2007.
Ashley Olsen grew up outside Jacksonville, Florida. She moved three years ago to Florence, where her father is a professor of architecture.
Olsen's body was found after her boyfriend asked the landlady to check on her because he was unable to reach her.

The couple argued shortly before her death, but he "is not at this point a suspect," an investigator said, according to reports.
Before she died, Olsen wrote on her Instagram page: "I have a stalker" with the hashtags #stalkeralert and #creeperintheback.
Her last Instagram post came a week before her death.
