The photographer, singer and writer wrote "My Love went straight psychotic and beat me brutally for ten hours" a few days after Thanksgiving. "He had planned it out. I was supposed to die."
In an email to INSIDE EDITION, Amaker said: "Making music helps with the healing."
The healing is going to be a long process.
She says her face is a half-inch wider now, thanks to severe bruising of her facial bones that have created ridges she said she can feel through her skin.

"Domestic violence is not a faraway issue. It affects people you know, cheerful people, people who sing, people who love," she said. "We the humans must be better, kinder, stronger. We the loving must not tolerate abuse. We the living must facilitate life."
