A video from the late 1980s shows U.S. Senator and presidential hopeful Ted Cruz making a butt joke while revealing his lofty ambitions.
A home video dating back to the 1980s shows a teenage Ted Cruz laying bare his not-so-modest life goals.
In short, the U.S. Senator said he wanted it all.
But first he made a butt joke.
In the 1988 video taken when young Cruz was a student at Houston's private Second Baptist School, he's asked about his aspirations.

"Aspirations? Is that like sweat on my butt?" Cruz asked the interviewer, who is not on camera.
After a pause for laughs that never come, Cruz tries for another zinger. "My aspiration is to...be in a teen t** film like that guy who played Horatio. You know he was in Malibu Bikini Beach Shop."
Politico suggests this reference is likely to the film Malibu Bikini Shop, which came out two years before the video was made.
After his second attempt at humor, Cruz casually rattles off his true aspirations.

"Other than that, take over the world, world domination, you know, rule everything. Rich, powerful, that sort of stuff," he says.
The brief video appeared on YouTube on Saturday after it was posted by a user named Young Ted Cruz who reportedly obtained the footage from a former classmate of Cruz's who declined to be named.
Questioned about the video, Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler said only that it was "good to see he’s always had a great sense of humor."
